We have all heard the statement " it's not a sprint, it's a marathon". People use this statement with all types of correlation, but the one that bugs me the most is when they use it when referring to life. When I think of a marathon (because I have never ran one), I think of something that you pace yourself at, saving yourself so when the end is near, you run as fast as you can and hope you do not poop your tiny tiny short shorts. We have all seen the pictures on the web of someone "pushing" to hard towards the finish. So it makes no sense to me to live life like a marathon. When's the last time you saw a 90-year-old man sprinting anywhere other than the toilet or for a bran muffin. I Understand that it's impossible to sprint 26 miles or sprint your whole life, but make sure you sprint to the good things and sprint away from the bad. Do the things you want to do, and don't spend much time on the things you don't. So whether you think life is a sprint or a marathon, you need to remember that you only get one race and it's only 26 miles... LIFE IS TO SHORT TO BE DILLYDALLYING AROUND, GET GOING!
I'm Dave, and thats the way I see it, and I guess I better go for a jog...

Well Coach D, the way I see it either way you are calling life a race. In that case a couple of guys like us should be around for a long time because whether it's a sprint or a marathon I am sure we would finish in the back. So take your time, some different paths then everyone else and try not to win.
ReplyDeletewould you please replace the picture with a pic of you in tiny tiny shorty shorts?
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll get going... Are you coming too? :-)
ReplyDeleteI like this one Coach.
